My iOS Wallpaper Collections

As a user of the iPhone and iPad (not so much the iPod Touch), I find Apple's selection of lock screen and home screen images somewhat bland. So I've put together some alternatives over the years, using some of my photographs as the starting point.

Home screen backgrounds (they go behind the icons) are pattern-like, based on elements in nature, such as plants, sand, clouds, and water. Lock screen backgrounds can be nearly anything I found interesting as I flipped through my photo collection.

  • iPhone 6: These are all 750x1334 images, and those designed for the home screen include a darkened row for the navigation buttons.
  • iPhone 5, 5c, 5s: These are all 640x1136 images, and those designed for the home screen include a darkened row for the navigation buttons, as well as a 'fade to dark' in the area below the navigation bar.
  • iPhone 4, 4S: These are all 640x960 images, and those designed for the home screen include a darkened row for the navigation buttons, as well as a 'fade to dark' in the area below the navigation bar.
  • iPhone 3, 3G: A set of 320x480 photos.
  • iPad 3, 3G, 3GS: These are all 2048x2048 images, tested for positioning of the main photo elements in both portrait and landscape orientations.
  • iPad, iPad 2: These are all 1024x1024 images, tested for positioning of the main photo elements in both portrait and landscape orientations.
